Sorry but Groundhogs don't know shit.

It's Groundhog Day. Do people actually look to the Groundhog for serious weather predictions? I really hope not...the groundhog can predict weather about as well as a meteorologist, (read: NOT AT ALL), it's an 'educated guess' at best.
Take today for instance...yesterday they were 'predicting' the BIGGEST WINTER STORM IN THE HISTORY OF SNOW. We were going to get around 30cm, and last night before a flake had fallen from the sky, schools were announcing their closures. News stations had created songs and animations of "SNOWMAGEDDON 2011". Hell, the Toronto School Board cancelled school for the first time in over a decade.
I wasn't buying it though. They always blow this shit out of proportion, getting everyone up in arms over impending doom only for it to be all for nothing. Today was no exception. We got about 10cm, and the final tally was moved to 15cm. BIG FUCKING DEAL. It's nice that all the little kidlets got a snow day, but all the stress it put people through beforehand was not worth it. I am only pissed because I thought there was a slight possibility that I'd be watching Netflix with my cat all day.
As for the groundhog? Well, I heard 2 differing reports. One groundhog saw it's shadow, one didn't. So....does that mean 3 more weeks of winter? Who fucking knows. Spring will come when it comes, just like it does every year.
Groundhog Day is just pretty much bullshit, just like weathermen and their 'predictions'. The movie with Bill Murray is good though, and I think I'll watch it tonight on Netflix. With my cat :)
