| HI BOYS AND GIRLS |
The more I think about it, the more I think
one of my biggest influences was Pee Wee Herman. No, not because I like to touch
myself inappropriately in movie theatres, but for pretty much every other reason.
I love singing songs about what I’m doing while I do it, making up funny voices,
talking to furniture. It just finally clicked in that it’s all from Pee Wee.. I
can remember watching his show on Saturday mornings and it being one of the
highlights of my life. I would rent Pee Wee videos and subject my poor grandparents
to them all the time (well...it was either Pee Wee vids or WWF Wrestlemanias so...lol).
I would do everything he asked me to, from making ants on a log (which I STILL
DO to this day...celery with peanut butter and raisins), to using a whole roll
of scotch tape on my face, to creating a huge ball of rubber bands that serves
no purpose.
I got his DVD box set of Seasons 1&2 and I still really enjoy watching them. I can’t believe all the crazy stuff on that show that totally went over my head when I was so little. Pee Wee must have been on some massive awesome drugs when he wrote this show, because it’s totally fucked up. So the next time you’re wondering why I’m such a weirdo, just remember...it’s Pee Wee’s fault.

I adored PeeWee Herman and got up every Saturday morning to watch PeeWee's Playhouse.
ReplyDeleteYou inspired me to download "PeeWee's Playhouse" last night!
ReplyDeleteHaha that's great!! I'm very inspired to watch it tonight myself.
ReplyDeleteMake some ants on on a log and think of me :D
