Don't get me wrong. I LOVED Michael Jackson when I was little. Thriller is one of my favorite songs and is my favorite video of all time. In 1993 though, when the first child abuse allegations came out, he lost a bit of his lustre for me.
I don't know whether or not I believe he actually did anything...I don't want to believe that he could, but I also know that celebrities are fucked up so it's entirely possible. I remember the backlash against him, the Wacko Jacko, the tabloids, the Martin Bashir documentary fiasco, the last trial where he was completely off his rocker...nobody had given a shit about his music for over a decade.
Then he dies.
All of the sudden, all that shit's forgotten. Like, Ok...I get it, when someone dies it elevates them...but now all these people that were calling him a paedophile are wiping away tears with sequined gloves. I'd hope MJ's ghost is giving them the finger. Where was this love and support (that he thrived on) when he was actually alive?
Anyway. The point of this entry is just to say that I hate how people are all shitting themselves because they're so excited for Michael's new album, when the only reason is because he's dead, and all of the sudden its cool to love MJ again. If he were still alive, no one would give a shit about this new album, just like they didn't about his last album. Ugh.

I just want to point out that I for one, ALWAYS loved Michael Jackson. I never believed any of the accusations. I just always thought that he was just a social oddball with zero power of outside perception and a terrible publicist. I certainly hope his ghost is not giving me the finger when I buy his album...but I agree with your annoyance at the "death bandwagon" jerks.
